A New Style to Add to My Portfolio
I met my client in August of 2013, excited to begin her dress for the following year. She knew exactly what she wanted: a bodice with a bra-front, thin straps and a low open back.
This was a fun dress to design, for sure, and no short of challenges. The bra-front was modeled from an actual bra she had brought to the first consult. I used those cups to get the shape and padding right. The entire dress is underlined for added structure and then lined.
The Fine Details
The rest of the dress was made in a sheath silhouette with lovely curved princess seams in the front. For some added detail two criss-crossing straps were attached at the lower back, these can detach so the dress can be slipped on. The lace appliqué was then attached under the bust and along the back, peeking over the edge is some places. This task may sound painstaking as it did take a long time but I actually liked it. It’s like putting a puzzle together! I look forward to my next gown where I get to add lace appliqué!
It felt really good to complete this dress, and she looked beautiful 🙂 See more photos in my portfolio.
Now – On to the next project…
